EUROPEAN PLUM VARIEITES
BLUE DAMSON
Small, round blue fruits.
Very tart, freestone, green flesh. Excellent for jams, jellies and
preserves. Vigorous growth. Ripens
late August to September. Self fertile.
BROOKS
Large, purplish black fruit with
sweet, yellow flesh. Excellent for eating, canning, and drying. Pollinate with
Green Gage or Italian Prune.
GREEN GAGE
Small to medium, oval, yellowish
green fruit with juicy, smooth textured, amber flesh. Good dessert,
cooked, canned or preserved. Pollinate with Italian Prune, Seneca or Yellow Egg.
IMPERIAL EPINEUSEMedium sized oval fruit
with purplish red skin. Meaty, rich, sweet and firm yellow flesh.
Very productive. Ripens mid-August
to mid-September. Great for eating fresh or drying. Very old variety, highly
regarded. Partially self-fertile, but best to pollinate with another European
plum.
ITALIAN PRUNE
Medium to large, oval, purplish
black fruit. Juicy, greenish yellow freestone flesh turns red when cooked.
Distinctive, rich, sweet flavor. Good for canning and drying. Early, reliable
producer. Ripens August/September. Pollinate with Green Gage, Seneca or Yellow
Egg.
SENECA
Large, reddish blue fruit .Crisp,
yellow freestone flesh. Very sweet. Good for fresh eating, canning or drying.
Good disease and crack resistance. Ripens August/September. Pollinate with Green
Gage, Italian Prune or Yellow Egg.
YELLOW EGG
Large, oval, golden yellow fruit.
Firm, juicy, yellow, semi-freestone flesh. A little tart until fully ripe when
they become rich and sweet. Good for eating fresh or canning. Very productive
tree. Ripens August/September. Pollinate with Green Gage, Italian Prune or
Seneca.

with pink blossoms and dark purple leaves. Ripens in August. Pollinate with
Beauty or Satsuma

Medium to
large, round, dark red fruit with small pit. Firm, meaty, juicy, sweet, red
flesh. Excellent for fresh eating, cooking, canning or preserves. Ripens in
July/August. Pollinate with Beauty or Hollywood
SHIRO
Medium to
large, round, yellow fruit Very juicy, clingstone flesh with a mild, sweet
flavor. Excellent for fresh eating, cooking, canning, preserves and dessert.
Consistent bearer. Good pollinator
for other Japanese plums. Pollinate with Satsuma.
