EUROPEAN PEAR VARIETIES

BARTLETT:

Large golden-yellow fruit with smooth white flesh. Good for fresh eating, canning or preserves. Medium sized, compact, upright tree. Highly productive and long lived. Pollinate with any other European pear.

COMICE:

Large greenish-yellow fruit with red blush and light russet color. Rich, juicy, firm, sweet, finely textured flesh. Premium dessert pear. Needs 1-2 months of cool storage for ripening. Pollinate with any other European pear.

CONFERENCE:

Medium to large dark yellow fruit. Tender, juicy, slightly long fruit with smooth green skin. Pale yellow flesh. Sweet, melting and very juicy. Pollinate with any other European pear.

HIGHLAND:

Brownish-yellow pear of medium to large size. Excellent quality; rich, sweet flavor and juicy. Needs 1-2 months of cool storage for ripening. Pollinate with any other European pear.

ASIAN PEAR VARIETIES

HOSUI:

Medium to large, brownish orange fruit.  Juicy, sweet, fine grained, crisp, off-white flesh.  Stores through December; ripens August thru late September.  Vigorous tree with spreading, loose growth habit.  Pollinate with any other Asian pear.

KOSUI:

Small to medium, yellow fruit with a slight bronze russet coloring. Crisp, crunchy, juicy flesh. Exceptional sweet taste. Ripens mid July to early August. Stores through September. Pollinate with any other Asian pear.

NIJISSEIKI:

Medium sized, round, yellow fruit with greenish mottling. Thin, tender skin. Extremely crisp juicy flesh. Stores through January. Pollinate with any other Asian pear.

SHINGLO:

Medium sized fruit with golden brown skin. Excellent flavor, with sweet juicy flesh. Ripens early August. Pollinate with any other Asian pear.

SHINSEIKI:

Medium to large round, yellow fruit.  Crisp, creamy white flesh with sweet flavor.  Ripens in August.  Stores through January.  Pollinate with any other Asian pear.
